About this Artwork:

The inspiration for this painting came during an evening at my brother’s house in Karingani Game Reserve, Mozambique. On this particular evening, as the sun began to sink, the sky turned that unmistakable golden hue that it does occasionally in Africa.

In the quiet of that golden hour, a small herd of elephants moved slowly through the landscape, passing right by the house as they continued their evening journey. Then, for a moment, they paused. Everything fell into a gentle stillness, the kind you feel more than hear. The light wrapped around them in beautiful warmth, catching the light on their faces and through the grasses, turning the whole scene into something almost timeless.

In this painting, I’ve captured that moment: the hush of the wild, the glow of the Mozambican sunset and the calm presence of the elephants as they stood in the golden hour in Karingani Game Reserve. It’s a memory that lingers; peaceful, powerful and deeply connected to the land.
