This painting is an original art piece inspired by an unforgettable encounter in Kruger National Park, South Africa. While on safari with my mum and friends, we came across a magnificent wild leopard and sat with him for some time. He eventually settled into stillness before rising with calm power, marking his territory, and totally disappearing out of our sight into the bushveld. His camouflage was extraordinary. I painted ‘Calm before the Hunt’ to honour the quiet strength of the leopard and the calmness we experienced together that day, before he set out on his nightly prowl.
